Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Hysel is a software platform for Etsy sellers that provides keyword and product research, shop analytics, AI-assisted listing creation, and influencer discovery. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

2. Data we collect

• Account data — your name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you create a Hysel account or join a waitlist.
• Etsy shop data — with your permission, we access your Etsy shop information (listings, sales statistics, reviews) through the official Etsy API using OAuth. We only request the scopes needed to provide the features you use.
• Research activity — keywords you search, products and shops you analyse, and saved items, so the product can remember your work.
• Usage data — pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
• Support communications — messages you send to us when asking for help.

3. How we use your data

We never sell your personal data, and we do not use your Etsy shop data to contact your customers.

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Hysel platform.
• To authenticate you and connect your Etsy shop via the Etsy API.
• To send service updates, waitlist notifications, and (with your consent) product news. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To detect abuse, secure our systems, and comply with legal obligations.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (such as your theme choice). Analytics cookies are only used to understand aggregate product usage. Details are described in our Cookie Policy.

5. Data sharing

We share data only with the service providers that help us run Hysel:

• Cloud hosting, authentication, and email delivery.
• AI processing (Google Gemini API): content you submit to AI features, such as listing text or shop data, is sent to Google for processing under Google's API terms.

6. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Waitlist emails are kept until we launch the related feature or you ask us to remove them. Etsy shop data is refreshed from the API and deleted when you disconnect your shop or delete your account. Backups are deleted on a rolling basis within 90 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA under the GDPR, the UK, and other regions), you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Export your data in a portable format.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.
• File a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

We process personal data to perform our contract with you (your account, the Etsy connection, and the features you use), on your consent (product news and non-essential cookies), for our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, improving the product, and operating the creator directory), and to meet our legal obligations.

9. Creator and influencer data

Hysel's discovery directory shows information about content creators and influencers. These people are not Hysel users. This section explains how we handle their data and serves as our notice to them.

What we process: publicly available profile information, such as display name, username, profile link, platform (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), profile picture, bio, follower count, engagement metrics, content categories, and audience statistics.

Where it comes from: from Influencer Marketing AI (IMAI), a third-party data provider that compiles it from public social media profiles. We do not collect it directly from creators and we do not access private accounts. IMAI processes this data under its own privacy policy.

Why we use it: to let Etsy sellers discover creators and evaluate possible collaborations and, once launched, to track affiliate campaigns. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: helping sellers find suitable creators using information the creators have made public.

How long we keep it: the data is refreshed from our provider and is removed when a creator asks us to remove it. We do not sell it.

Your rights and how to remove your profile: if you are a creator listed in Hysel, email hysel.studio.io@gmail.com with the subject "Creator data request" and include your profile link(s). We may ask you to verify that you control the profile. Within 30 days we will remove your profile from Hysel and add it to a suppression list so it is not re-imported. You can also ask for access to your data, correction, or object to our processing. To remove your data from Influencer Marketing AI (IMAI) itself, contact IMAI directly through their website.

10. International transfers

Our service providers may process data outside your country. Where data is transferred out of the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular reviews of our security practices. No system is perfectly secure, so please also protect your account credentials.

12. Children

Hysel is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Hysel evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app before the changes take effect.
